First Grade

Posted by
Bettina (Los Angeles, United States) on 11 November 2012 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

Just sharing a look back for fun. My first grade. At the Dreilinden Schule in Berlin. Back then, sitting at my desk, I never would have thought I'd be here so many years later, still doing my work at a desk, now no longer moving dots around, but words and words and words. From Berlin to New York City to LA. Who would have known back then.
...
Have a big project this week.

Richard from Ellemford, United Kingdom

Lovely story Bettina. It really is so strange when we look back and then try to work out how we got to where we have. I had no idea I'd do what I've done and if you had said to me, aged 40, that I was going to be a writer I would never have believed you.

Still, those eyes and that smile tell the story. I agree with Richard about not imagining where we would be, but my life sort of went the other way - I had all sorts of dreams, wanting to be a musician, a teacher, a singer...yet I never had the discipline to get the grades, stick with the plan, be persistent....So smile and DO be happy and amazed with where you are...I am not amazed at all...and so very proud to 'know' you! Always a big hug - dj

awwww . . what a lovely memory to hold and share. When I look back at my childhood groups, I wonder what happened to all the others there with me. I kid myself I could tell who 'made it' and who did not but the truth would be amazingly different, I'm sure.

When I look back to when I was that age I realize how differently life has turned out from what I dreamed and fantasized....I guess that's part of the magic Betty..the mystery & the suspense of the unknown future that lies in store for us all.

A very sweet, lovely child you certainly were...wonderful snapshot of your childhood Betty! Be well:)

Fantastic share, and shot of you as a young girl, Bettina. Full of life and spirit then, too. I see you in her eyes and in her smile. Thanks for sharing your young self with us. It is a vulnerable thing to do. I think of me at that age, and don't think I had a thought in my head about my future, at all. Just playing in the moment. And i just learned I am at a stage in my life that I can retire. Hard to believe that, too!
